How to Become A Licensed Realtor in the State of Texas

Have you considered becoming a licensed realtor in the state of Texas is a simple process once an individual is able to furnish sufficient evidence that he or she completed educational requirements including: a Principles of Real Estate core real estate course consisting of 60 classroom hours, a Law of Agency core real estate course consisting of 30 classroom hours, a Law of Contract core real estate course consisting of 30 classroom hours, an additional core real estate course consisting of 30 classroom hours, and four semesters, or 60 classroom hours, in core courses or in related courses acceptable to the commission.  Once the education requirements have been satisified, a Request for Evaluation of Education Documents is filled out and the college transcripts are submitted via credit transcript or certificate and examined by the Commission. A $30 fee, good for one year, is charged for examining the documents.

Upon completion of the evaluation, an Application for Inactive Salesperson License is completed and submitted online. It is important to note that this process follows the evaluation of documents listed above. The two cannot be submitted simultaneously. The fee for obtaining the license is $94.50 for the original application and $10 for the Recovery Trust Account, previously known as the Recovery Fund. All applicants are required to pay the fees. CELI, a testing service, takes care of license examinations. Once all paperwork has been processed, a person can obtain a Candidate Information Brochure and register for the exam. Criminal background checks and student loan information may be checked prior to receiving the license and an individual must obtain sponsorship from a licensed Texas real estate broker before going into business. A Salesperson Sponsorship Form is included with application materials.
